Hello everyone and Happy Rainy Thursday! It is almost June! Where has the time gone? Seriously?
A week ago today I had an accident and the last week has been pretty rough.
Brian and I are on a softball team that plays on Thursday evenings. It's just for fun and if you know me at all you know I am NOT good at softball! lol..but its something fun we do with friends and have done the last couple years. We had a game last Thursday at 8:15pm. I play right field (thats how good I am) haha...Except on this particular night I guess I decided to try and be a star and catch a line drive that was hit straight to me. BUT instead of catching it with my glove I caught it with my face! I dropped to the ground and blood was gushing EVERYWHERE. My first thought was that I was going to be blind!!!
Brian was right next to me on the field and ran over to me, they called 911 and had an ambulance come and get me and take me to the emergency room. My face was swollen so huge I was unrecognizeable on my left side. I looked like Monica off of friends when she puts on a fat suit! YIKES...it hurt like hell. I was so upset because well its never ideal to be hit in the face with a softball but also we are getting married in 50 days at this point! So not ideal to have this happen anytime, let alone right before our wedding.
They had to do a cat scan and a scan on my face to see if I had any brain injuries or broken bones in my face. The scan came back and I had 4 broken bones in my face:( I had to be sent to the trauma center at Overland Park Regional. It was about midnight at this point. We got OP Regional and they had to do some more tests etc., they put me on pain meds, I had to have a tetanus shot (ouch) and then they had to stitch my eye up because it was split above and below my eye!!
I got LOTS of drugs and eye drops to help with the pain and make sure my eye didn't swell and help resolve the blood that was in my eye. I went to the eye doctor the next day to have everything checked out. Thank goodness everything with my eye was going to be ok. My vision is still blurry in my left eye today but the doc said that is normal.
I also had to make an appointment to see a plastic surgeon to see if I needed any surgery on my face due to the blowout of my zygoma.. I had to wait until my swelling went down, so we had an appointment yesterday and he gave me the bad news that I had to have surgery to repair my eye socket, pretty much, because if I didn't my eye would droop later in life (aint nobody got time for that) So I was pretty dissapointed that I have to have surgery but things could have been a LOT worse and I am so thankful that everything is going to be ok and that its all fixable. Who knew I would have to have plastic surgery at 29? haha
So I am having surgery next Tuesday June 4th at 7am. I will be out of work/physical activity for at least 2 weeks. I am going to go CRAZY!!! I can't workout and that just kills me, but thats alright as long as my face heals.
My nephew Brady was coming to spend the weekend with us last weekend and it ended up being really good that he was here because B needed some help taking care of me and the dogs and the house. Brian was AMAZING!! He took such great care of me and is a wonderful nursmaid! Very strict too:) But thats a good thing. I felt so damn lucky and blessed to be marrying such a wonderful man and know that no matter what he will take care of me. Such an amazing feeling. And Brady was such a great help around the house and with me!!!! He rocked!!
All of my family/friends/and coworkers have been so wonderful. I can't thank everyone enough for being there for me and coming to see me and help out etc... My work has been awesome and I know that they really care about me which is so great. So pray that my surgery goes well on Tuesday. I am looking so much better a week later so hopefully in a few weeks I will be as good as new:)
Have a wonderful Thursday everyone!!!
Love, The future Mrs. Wall
43 DAYS UNTIL THE WEDDING!!!!!!!
